KARACHI: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the Port during the last 24 hours, Port sources said here Friday.

According to the sources, six carrying containers, chemical and furnace oil were allocated berths at Qasim International Container Terminal Engro Vopak Terminal, Sui Gas Terminal and FOTCO Terminal on Thursday.

Two more ships carrying rice and edible oil also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at 65% on Friday. A total of seven ships namely MV. Nora Maersk, Safmarine Nagam, Siagon Express, LA Paloma, MV. Shangai, Long Champ and MV. Fair Spirit are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, rice, chemicals LPG mix and furnace oil respectively for the last 24 hours.

A cargo volume of 76,058 tonnes, comprises 51,893 tonnes imports and 24,165 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2483 containers (Boxes) was handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.

MV. Long Champ and Nora Maersk sailed out to sea on Friday morning while MV. Saigon Express, MTM Shanghai, Safmarine Ngam and LA Paloma will sail later today.
