ISLAMABAD: The 3G technology is need of the hour as the volume of data transmission has increased tremendously because Pakistani consumers have more awareness, President and CEO Mobilink Rashid Khan said on Wednesday.

Addressing journalists, he said transmitting such huge data only possible through 3G technology. The Mobilink, he said will participate in the auction of 3G license and was of the view that introduction of such advanced technology should not be delayed. About un-name SIM, Khan said the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has already established a proper mechanism through online verification through involvement of NADRA and CNIC. He said both the PTA and interior ministry are handling the security related matters of SIM issuing and its verification.

He also said that the Mobilink has marked 2012 as the year it will create a paradigm shift in Pakistan’s cellular environment by elevating consumer experience to a level that is unparalleled within the local industry. The Mobilink’s subscribers already have access to the best cellular service in Pakistan, as a result of the operator’s continuing investment in infrastructure and coverage footprint as well as focus on developing superior customer relationships.

He also spoke about the achievements of Mobilink over the past year, and the cellular operator’s strategy for 2012. He said, “Our focus at Mobilink has always been to provide the best cellular service to our customers. In 2012, we will capitalise on our infrastructure investment, increased coverage and great customer relationship management, to provide our valued customers with the best cellular experience in Pakistan.”

Mobilink has witnessed unparalleled growth over the last few years, with the operator continuing its build on its vision to reshape lives through connectivity. Mobilink has invested $393 million in Pakistan over 2010-11, resulting in an enhancement of footprint and its voice and data network as well as the induction of cutting edge technology, which has brought Mobilink’s uninterrupted connectivity to 20,000 cities, towns and villages nationwide.
