KMC starts construction, repair of roads

KARACHI: Administrator KMC Muhammad Hussain Syed said that construction and repairing of roads in different areas of the city has started while work on five flyovers and three underpasses would begin after calling of tenders in two weeks carrying an estimated cost of Rs1.6 billion.

He said carpeting work on Korangi 15 thousand road from 8000 road
to 12000 road was started which have a length of one and half kilometer with 36 feet width, said a statement issued by KMC on Tuesday.

He said this project would cost Rs100 million. Construction and repairing work from 3000 Road to Malir 15 on 6000 Road was also
started which have a length of 2000 feet and two tracks of 24 feet
width each, he added.

He said construction of Jinnah Road in Manzoor Colony has started and this 1000 feet long road would also have two tracks of 24 feet width each from Eidgah Chowk to Maryem Masjid.

Repairing and carpeting work of Khuaja Moinuddin Chishti Road in Karachi Administration Society was initiated. This road had been in the dilapidated condition due to the leakage of water from underground water and sewerage pipelines. The reconstruction work of this road will be done from beneath the Baloch Colony Bridge till P.E.C.H Society Nullah.

Muhammad Hussain Syed said underpasses were being constructed at P.I.D.C, Shaheen Complex and Mehran Hotel while work on construction of underpasses on Dr. Ziauddin Road and I.I. Chundrigar Road will also start soon.

He said the shifting of underground water and sewerage pipelines at these locations will be completed as soon as possible so that citizens could be saved from any trouble.

The Administrator Karachi said special measures were being taken to ensure smooth flow of traffic around important roundabouts and corridors while provision of alternate ways was also under consideration.

He said construction of Shahabuddin Market in Saddar may start this week so that the whole area around Empress Market could be made beautiful.

Many of the ongoing development projects in city will be completed in the current financial year and work on new project would start soon. Rapid work on development projects was ensured to provide maximum facilities to citizens in less time, he said.
