Hafeez for reducing construction period of M-9 project

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said on Friday transparency should be ensured in the execution of Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9). Chairing a meeting to discuss the progress of Karachi-Hyderabad (M-9) he said construction period should be reduced from 30 months to 12 months. The meeting highlighted the importance of this project for the uplift of Sindh province as well as for overall economic prosperity of the country. The meeting was informed this project covers the conversion of existing 4-lane highway into 6-lane through addition of 1-lane at both sides of the road. The project also includes the improvement of existing 2-lanes of the road. The cost of projects is Rs 24.930 million on BOT basis and construction period would be 30 months. In the same way, groundbreaking ceremony will be held by the end of next month
