Lahore Property News : Bid to bury LDA deaths case exposed

LAHORE – An illegal attempt by secretary of the Board of Revenue Housing Society to hush up the case of four labourers’ death at the hands of some LDA officials a few months ago has been timely blocked by the Metropolitan Planning Wing of the Lahore Development Authority.

The BOR Society, Mr Abdul Shakoor, submitted to the Lahore Development Authority’s wing a Part Plan and the self-revised map of the society for its approval, without getting it approved from other office bearers of the society, insiders told TheNation.

They further revealed that the president of the BOR Society, Mr Nasir Qadeer, has exposed the conspiracy of hushing up the case of the four deaths. (The building the labourers were working in was in the jurisdiction of the said society).

The four poor labourers were buried alive in the under-construction building they were working on as the LDA officials had started razing it to ground a few months back.

Now, they added, the LDA authorities have issued directions to the concerned body of the society to resubmit a new amended map for approval.

They said: “Following the plan’s rejection, the Registrar Cooperative of the Punjab ordered to submit the new amended or revised map in a meeting of the Managing Committee of the LDA, and also ordered at least one representative of the Cooperatives Department to participate in the upcoming meeting at any cost.”

Nasir Qadeer, through different letters, also informed the higher authorities of the LDA as well as the officers of the Cooperatives Department about the real game behind the submission of the amended map of the society by the secretary, the sources added.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Cooperatives Department also issued directions to Registrar Cooperatives Muhammad Khan Khichi in this regard and directed him to proceed in the light of his findings, under which he directed to submit amended map of society in the Managing Committee meeting of the society with directing the official to attend the meeting at any cost, sources further added.

It may be mentioned here that now the new amended map would be submitted in the office of the Registrar Cooperatives for giving it a final shape after the approval of the Managing Committee.

As a result, the one-sided attempt by the secretary of the BOR Society has failed. It is likely that an action would be initiated against him, under Section 43 of the Cooperative Housing Societies Act, on account of his unlawful step, they concluded.

It is pertinent to mention here that Abdul Rauf, the brother of sitting secretary of the society, has already been suspended by the authorities of Cooperative Society of the Punjab on account of unlawful steps. The case is currently in a court of law.
