Punjab Development News : 505 new water plants soon, says CM

AHORE – Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Saaf Pani Project is of vital importance and the provincial government has planned to install as many as 505 water plants including 88 reverse-osmosis and 417 ultra filtration in 30 districts.
The CM has called for expeditiously completing the project in a transparent and fair manner saying, national resources are a sacred trust of the public and transparent use of every penny must be ensured. He said high standard and transparency is the policy of Punjab government.
The CM was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of implementation of Saaf Pani project, here on Wednesday. MPAs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Hafiz Mian Nauman, Tanveer Aslam Malik, Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam Raja, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretaries Housing and Finance and experts were present. Managing Director Engineering Consultancy Services of Punjab gave a detailed briefing regarding the project.
The CM said provision of potable water to the masses was the top priority of the government and solid steps were being taken for this purpose. He said the project of the supply of pure water was already delayed and all possible measures should be taken for its speedy completion. He said under Saaf Pani Project, 505 water plants including 88 reverse-osmosis and 417 ultra filtration would be installed in 30 districts of the province. He directed that process of prequalification be completed at the earliest and bids also be invited by the end of this month for the speedy execution of the project.
He also issued instructions for setting up a technical committee to settle technical issues of the project. He said that supply of pure and clean drinking water was essential for protecting people from diseases. He directed that Secretary Housing should personally monitor Saaf Pani Project so that it could be completed at the earliest.
Earlier, Managing Director Engineering Consultancy Services of Punjab (ECSP) Karamat Ullah Chaudhry gave a detailed briefing regarding different aspects of the project including the cost of the plants, technical matters and construction of plant house.
The experts also gave their proposals.
