CHIEF Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the Lahore Ring Road Package-15 will be inaugurated on December 25 whereas the project of widening of the Lahore Canal Road will be completed by January 15 and the Muslim Town flyover by March 23.

He also issued directions for the official to consider construction of service roads on both sides of the canal from Thokar Niaz Baig to Jallo Mor and evolve a plan in this regard. The chief minister was visiting various ongoing development projects to review the pace work in the provincial metropolis here on Sunday.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the quality of work of fencing wall over Ring Road, the CM said the resources were the trust of the nation and warned that wastage of the resources could not be tolerated. He directed the Lahore commissioner to take strict action against those involved in substandard work of the fencing wall on Ring Road. While expressing strong indignation over the debris lying on the Slip Road at Qainchi Chowk on Ferozepur Road, the CM said any accident could occur due to the debris and it was the responsibility of the departments concerned to remove it immediately. He also ordered strict action against those showing negligence in removing the debris.

He said the Kalma Chowk flyover, Ring Road, Madar-e-Millat Road and other development projects were unique example of quality and transparency and they could be compared with the projects in the developed countries. He said work was also going on speedily round the clock on Muslim Town Canal flyovers on Ferozepur Road and Canal Road and they would be completed in stipulated time. He said that due to additional work, there was some delay in the Canal Road widening project; however, it would be completed by January 15 as a result of which the best travelling facilities would be available to people and the flow of traffic would also improve. The CM visited the ongoing development projects in the provincial metropolis for more than three hours. He started his visit from Nawaz Sharif Interchange, Ring Road Package 15 and reviewed the quality of work there. He inspected of fencing wall on Ring Road, widening of Canal Road and work on Muslim Town flyovers. During the visit, people gathered everywhere and lauded her services.

Ashiana schemes: Shahbaz Sharif has said that the credit for Ashiana Housing Scheme goes to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz which materialised the dream of “Apna Ghar Apni Jannat” of the poor.

He said that besides the provincial metropolis, work was also being carried out in 17 districts of the province. He was presiding over a meeting to review the pace of implementation of the Ashiana Housing Scheme across the province here on Sunday. Shahbaz said that after the first Ashiana Housing Scheme at Saroba Attari, the work on Ashiana-II in Lahore would also start soon whereas the process of identification of land for such schemes in 17 other districts of the province had also been completed.
