Karachi—City government has initiated a road safety programme through schools to create awareness of traffic hazards yet the training and educatin of traffic police is equally important for traffic management instead of fleecing the motorists and bike riders on violation of traffic rules.

City District Government Karachi (CDGK), Transport and Communication Wing has launched a road safety education program to impart training to the teachers of different schools and about road safety rules.

EDO Transport and Communication, Atiq Baig inaugurated a training workshop on road safety. Speaking on the occasion, he said the teachers can play significant role to develop the understanding of the children to use the road safely.

He called upon the teachers to pay full attention to road safety educational program. He said the CDGK is making all out efforts to stop traffic accidents in the city with the help of road safety education and engineering means. Atiq Baig said the Administrator Karachi Mohammad Hussain Syed and DCO Karachi Roshan Ali shaikh are taking keen interest in the road safety programme. He said there is a need to pay attention to stop the loss of human lives in traffic accidents in Karachi. The Transport and Communication Department of the CDGK has started long and short term planning in this regard, he added.
