The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will meet on Friday, October 21, to consider projects worth billions of rupees relating to energy, water resources, agriculture and food, industry and commerce, physical planning and housing, culture and sports, transport and communication, higher education and science and technology sectors.

The CDWP would discuss about 59 projects for approval and recommendation for the Executive Committee of the National Council (Ecnec). According to official documents, the CDWP will consider ten projects relating to energy sector including Long Term Operation of Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (LTOK) (Revised), PC-II for joint Pre-project feasibility and design Study of a large size power plant, 04 MW hydel Power Project Thak Chilas (Revised) (ADB funding), Establishment of 48 MW Jagran-II Hydro Electric Power Station (Phase-2) District Neelum in AJK (Revised) (French Loan), Replacement of Conventional Street Lights with Light Emitting DIOE (LED) Lights at Islamabad (ADB funding and CDA self-financing), construction of Lawi Hydropower Project (69.0 MW) District Chitral, Detailed design and construction of Mtiltan hydro Power Project (84MW) District Swat, Khyber Pakhtunkwa, Establishment of Program Management office (PMO) for Pakistan Energy Efficiency Investment Program and one project about construction of four grid stations.

The CDWP will also consider 9 projects relating to Industry and Commerce including Establishment of Provincial Training Centre for Mine Workers and Emergency Response Training Quetta (Government of Australia), Up-gradation of NFC Institute of Engineering & Technology (NFC IET) Facilities, at Multan, Development of Infrastructure in Various Estates of Sindh Industrial Trading Estates (SITE) Limited, Ex Post Facto approval of Purchase of Additional Machinery for Project "Ceramics Development & Training Centre, Gujranwala", Ex Post Facto approval of Purchase of Additional Machinery for Project "Gujranwala Tools, Dies & Moulds Centre, Gujranwala, Grant of 15 percent Escalation to a Project Titled "Faisalabad Garment City", Capacity Building of Pakistan Industrial Technical Assistance Centre (PITAC), Pakistan Industrial Competitiveness Strengthening the Linkages Between Sustainable Development and Industrial Competitiveness(World Bank Funding), Expansion of Pakistan Steel's Production Capacity up to 1.5 million tons per year.

Ten Projects will be considered about Physical Planning & Housing including Construction of Petroleum House, at G-5, Islamabad (Revised), Post Flood Reconstruction/replacement of Projects in P.H.E Sector FATA, Up-gradation and Development of Shrine Hazrat Bibi Pak Daman, at Lahore, Rehabilitation and Improvement of Drainage Scheme, Larkana City, Municipal Services Delivery Program, Sindh (USAID Grant), Municipal Services Delivery Programme, (MSDP), KP (USAID Grant), Faseel Resettlement Project Pak Centre at Chowk Pak Gate Multan, Development & Beautification of Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh, Multan (Development of Market at Veterinary Hospital, Multan), Development of Low Income Housing Schemes at Multan, Phase-I Land Acquisition at Naag Shah Chowk Shujabad & Jalalpur Pirwala, Phase-II Infrastructure Development Naag Shah Chowk, Multan, Phase-II Infrastructure Development Shujabad & Jalalpur Pirwala and New Construction of Office Building for NAB (Balochistan).

CDWP will discussed 14 projects about Transport & Communication including Construction of Bridge Across River Indus Linking Jheeruk with Mulla Katiar, at Hydrabad & Thatta , Hasanabdal-Havellian-Mansehra Expressway E-35 (110 km) ADB 88.9 percent, Construction of Interchange at Aziz Chowk, Gujranwala (N-5), Improvement and Widening of N-45 (141 km) Section-1: Chakdara - Timargara, Section- 2: Akhagram - Dir Section- 3: Kalkatak - Chitral, Lowari Tunnel and Access Roads Project Modified as a Road Tunnel, Rehabilitation of Rolling Stock and Track in Connection with Bailout Package, Doubling of Track from Lodhran to Khanewal via Multan Cantt. (Revised), Rehabilitation of Track on Lahore - Lala Musa Section with New Signalling and Telecommunication System, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Road Infrastructure Damaged due to Flood and Heavy Rain 2010, Construction/Up-gradation of Dirgi Shabozai (N-70) to Taunsa (N-55) Road (182.10 KM), Modernisation of Gaddani Ship Breaking & Recycling Industry and Development of Allied Facilities at Gaddani, Construction of Fish Landing Jetty and Allied Harbour Works at Surbundar Balochistan (Revised), Construction of Fish Landing Jetty and Allied Harbour Works at Pishukan Balochistan (Revised), Construction/Widening of Black Topped Roads in Balochistan (i) Lindsay to Mud Sharbat via Chandar Ghazi & Bakhshia length 22.00 km & Construction of Black Topped Road Mud Sharbat, Khattan, Mehsar to Sunni cross length 26.00 km total length 48.00 km, District Kachhi,(ii) Ghazababad to Killi Mirani, Darya Khan, Malik Musafir Baloch to Kili Karz to Killi Khan Muhammad Kurd (length 27.00 km), District Quetta and Qilla Abdullah., (iii) Widening of Black Topped Road N-65 to Haftwali Cross (Main Sunni Shoran Road), District Kachhi (length 60 km). (iv) Widening of Black Topped Road from N-65 to (Bakhtiarabad) to Bhag and Construction of Black Topped Road from Bhag to Chandar via Badda (length 33.00 km), District Kachhi (v) Construction of Black Topped Road from N-65 to Marrow Isplanji Road (length 40.00 km), District Mastung.

Rehabilitation of Metalled Road from Jhal Magsi - Naushehra to Nuttal (N-65) (Length 115 km), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Road Development Sector & Sub Regional Connectivity Project (ADB assisted). Flood Schemes including Post-Flood Reconstruction/replacement Projects in Communication Sector FATA Sub Head: Southern FATA (North & South Wizaristan) Post-Flood Reconstruction/replacement Projects in Communication Sector FATA (Sub-Northern FATA & FR's) (Bajaur, Khyber Agencies FR's Peshawar/Kohat/Bannu and Tank) and iii)Post Flood Reconstruction / replacement Projects in Communication Sector FATA Sub-Head: Central FATA (Kurram and Orakzai Agencies)

Addition of 3rd and 4th lanes to Kashmir Highway from Peshawar More to G.T. Road (including construction of new bridges for the additional carriageway) (Revised), Proposal for Development of Shipping Sector (USAID funding), Islamabad Civilian and Traffic Control and Access Project (Spanish Grant in Aid).

The projects about flood areas and Water resources are Rehabilitation/Reconstruction of the Damages Caused by 2010 - Flood to Water Sector Infrastructures (Flood, Irrigation and Drainage) at Sargodha, Jhang, chiniot, Jhelum, Mandi Bahaud -Din, Gujrat, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Rehabilitation of Flood Bunds of Haveli Canal Circle in Khanawal and Multan Zone, Chashma Right Bank Irrigation Projects (Additional Works and Outstanding Liabilities) at D.I. Khan and D.G. Khan Districts (Revised) (ADB), Drinking water Supply Scheme based on CRBC Stage-III, at D.I. Khan (Revised) (100percent ADB Assisted), Channelization of Deg Nullah from Muridke Narowal Road to Outfall (Punjab ADP), Remodelling of SMB Link Canal and Enhancing Capacity of Mailsi Syphon, at Bahawalpur District(Punjab own sources), Management of Hill Torrent in CRBC area (Stage-III) Dera Ghazi Khan (Revised) (Punjab ADP), Flood Restoration Works in Rahim Yar Khan Canal Circle at Liaqatpur, Khanpur, Rahim Yar Khan & Sadiqabad, Construction of Palai Dam Project, Distt. Charsadda (Revised PC-I), Punjab Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Improvement Project. (WB IDA Credit), Rehabilitation and Restoration of Water Management Infrastructures, Office Buildings and Land Development and Purchase/Repair of Machinery in Flood Affected Areas in Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibi, Kachi, Ziarat, Loralai, Killa Saifullah, Harnai, Zhob, Kohlu, Barkhan and Musakhail Distt. of Balochistan., Construction of Maidani Small Dam in Kurram Agency FATA (Revised PC-I), Bazai Irrigation Project Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 2nd Revised).

Projects about Higher Education are Strengthening of Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi (Revised), Development of Malakand University, Chakdara, Dir (Lower) (Revised), Strengthening and Upgrading of Peshawar Campus of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar (Revised, Immediate Needs of the University of Science & Technology Bannu (Revised), Strengthening & Development Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Department of Civil Engineering, Software Engineering and Institute of Science & Technology including allied facilities & Services, at Jamshoro (Revised), Strengthening & Development of Department of Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Bio-Medical Engineering, Institute Environment Engineering & Management, Communal Facilities for Students and staff including allied services, at Jamshoro (Revised), Master Leading to Ph.D Scholarship Program (Indigenous and Overseas) for Students of Balochistan (An initiative of the Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Package)-HEC, Establishment of Frontier Women University, Peshawar (Revised), Indigenous Ph.D Fellowships for 5000 Scholars, HEC (Phase-II), Strengthening of University of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Development of Infrastructure at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal Balochistan, Construction of Girls Hostel at Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi.
