Full Version: SC tells CDA to submit details of plots’ remodeling in Sector I-8

ISLAMABAD - A three-member bench of the Supreme Court ordered the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Land Planning Wing head on Monday to submit within two days, the remodeling design of plots in Sector I-8. The bench, comprising Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain, was hearing a case pertaining to remodeling design of plots in Sector G-13 of the federal capital. The court told CDA’s Director General Ghulam Sarwar Sindhu to compile and submit with the court the relevant documents on Sector I-8 plots and provide sector-wise details of remodeling of plots.
The court said it wanted to examine whether or not the modeling and remodeling of plots had disturbed drainage and sanitation system in those sectors. The court also referred to the media reports about certain aspects of remodeling in various sectors including G-10, G-11, G-13, F-6, F-7 and I-8 etc.
The court noted that if natural flow of drainage was blocked it would have its impacts. The court also told the counsel for Federal Government Housing Foundation, Hafiz S.A Rehman, to prepare a report and assist the court over the matter.
The court adjourned hearing until 6 October. According to some media reports, the creation of plots along the drains might cause flash flooding in the city.
Car thief among 12 held in capital, police seize 3 firearms and hashish: The capital police on Monday claimed to have arrested 12 outlaws, including a notorious car thief, from various areas of the city. Police also seized a stolen car, a motorbike, three firearms and some hashish from those arrested. Sihala police station Sub-Inspector Anar arrested a car thief Murad Ali from T- Cross Rawat, when he was driving a stolen vehicle (RIS-2988). He was traveling with his accomplices when they tried to speed away when they were asked to stop the car at a police picket.
The car they were riding in had been stolen from the Pir Wadhai area on October 1, 2011. One of them later identified as Murad Ali son of Mohsin Ullah was arrested while two of his accomplices managaed to escape. Murad hailed from Sawabi district. A police team was formed to arrest the men who had fled from the scene. Police said Murad Ali had served five years in jail for various crimes including car theft.
Meanwhile, Margallah police Station House Officer Irshad Ali Abro and ASI Riaz Hussain caught an auto-thief, Nisar Ahmed, and seized a stolen motorbike (LEP-3265) from him. He confessed to stealing the bike from Sector G-9.
Separately, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Tehseen from CIA police nabbed a robber, later identified as Umer Farooq, and recovered one kalashnikov and ten live rounds from him. Meanwhile, Sabzi Mandi police arrested Amjad Ali and Khalil ur Rehman with one 44-bore rifle and 510 grams of hashish respectively. In a separate incident, Golra police arrested Fazal ur Rehman and Muhammad Ali with two pistols while Industrial areas police apprehended Murad Ali for filling LPG cylinder illegally.
