ISLAMABAD - The government on Friday announced an increase in the price of three major petroleum products by five percent, to be effective from today (Saturday). The maximum raise was allowed in the price of petrol by Rs 4.15 per litre, a five percent increase compared to the commodity’s price in September. The price of High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) was jacked up by Rs 2.72 per litre in line with increase in global oil prices.
Price of High Speed Diesel (HSD) has been increased by Rs 1.51 per litre. After the recent increase, the price of High Speed Diesel has increased from Rs 92.65 per litre to Rs 94.16 per litre, HOBC from Rs 109.93 per litre to Rs 112.65 per litre and petrol from 84.80 per litre to Rs 88.95 per litre. The government has kept the prices of Light Diesel Oil (LDO) and kerosene oil unchanged for the month of October at Rs 83.52 per litre and Rs 86.82 per litre, respectively.
The average price of global crude oil had increased by two percent to $108 per barrel during September against $106 per barrel last month. The rupee weakened to Rs 87.52 against Rs 86.70 in the preceding month
