LAHORE: As per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif and on a complaint lodged by LDA authorities, Lahore Police registered a case against the owner of Azam Garden Housing Scheme on Friday, consequently arresting him for not laying sewerage lines and providing other facilities to the residents of the housing scheme and running away with the deposited amount of the residents.

According to details, a complaint had been lodged by the LDA with the SHO of Mustafa Town Police Station for registration of FIR against the owner of the Azam Garden Housing Scheme, Hafiz Abdul Waheed.

The complainant pointed out that the housing scheme, spread over an area of 734 kanal 17 marla and 50 ft, and located at Mauza Niaz Baig, Multan Road, near Mansoora, had been approved by the LDA on September 30, 1985.

However, sponsors of the scheme, namely Hafiz Abdul Hameed and Hafiz Abdul Waheed, had committed the following irregularities as pointed out to Metropolitan Planning-I LDA director by the Welfare Society constituted by the plot owners of the scheme: The sponsors did not make any proper arrangement for the disposal of drain/rainwater due to which the rainwater accumulates in parks during the rainy season. They failed to level the land of the parks which also leads to rainwater accumulation. They failed to provide a proper water supply and sewerage system to cater the needs of the residents. They sold the site reserved for the area’s graveyard by illegally giving plots on the land. A site office has been constructed at the site reserved for public building on the main road of the scheme.

Hence, an FIR was registered against the sponsors of the Azam Garden Housing Scheme for committing the above-mentioned violations/irregularities.
