LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has emphasised upon the elected representatives to come forward and play a pro-active role for the achievement of the development targets of the next fiscal year and ensure timely and transparent completion of uplift projects in their respective areas.
He said that 20,000 yellow cabs would be distributed during next financial year and a sum of Rs 4.5 billion has been allocated for this purpose. He said that in view of the poverty in south Punjab, 40 per cent vehicles would be distributed in this region.
He said that Punjab government had decided to release the funds allocated for development projects in two instead of four instalments during next financial year for ensuring timely completion of uplift schemes.
He said that the new budget of Punjab was balanced and welfare-oriented and aimed at provision of basic amenities to the people and prosperity of deprived segments of the society. He said that besides generation of large scale job opportunities for the youth, a comprehensive strategy has also been adopted for bringing women into national mainstream.
He was presiding over a meeting here on Friday. MPAs Shahzadi Umerzadi Tiwana, Arifa Khalid, Khawaja Imran Nazir, Ali Haider Noor Khan Niazi, Shahid Mehmood Khan, Mian Naseer Ahmad and Ramzan Siddique were present.
The chief minister said that giving relief to the people was priority of the PML-N government and all out resources would be utilised for this purpose. He said that 65 per cent of the funds would be spent on the development of rural areas during next financial year.
