LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that 65 percent resources will be utilised on the development of rural areas in the next budget. He was addressing a meeting of Members Provincial Assembly, belonging to Multan and Sahiwal divisions, at the Chief MinisterĂ­s Secretariat here on Monday.

Shahbaz said the work was speedily in progress on Ashiana housing schemes in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Jhelum and similar housing schemes would be started in 12 more districts, including six districts of south Punjab, next year. He said assembly members should help the government for the implement public welfare projects and play their role for eliminating corruption.

He said that meetings should be held on a monthly basis for reviewing the pace of implementation of development schemes as well as law and order in all districts and commissioners, regional police officers, district coordination officers and district police officers should ensure their participation.

He said that in view of unemployment in South Punjab, 40 percent yellow cabs would be given to the youth of the region under this scheme. Similarly, he said, interest-free loans of Rs 20,000 each would be given to 100,000 male and female skilled youth for setting up their own business and.
