Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that it is the first time in the history of the country that housing schemes for poor people with low income have been initiated by Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) led provincial government.
Talking to media persons after inspecting the development projects here in Lahore at Bhutta Chowk of Defence area on Sunday, Shahbaz Sharif said that "Aashiyana Housing Scheme" was purely aimed at facilitating poor section of the society who was not able to purchase land and construct houses at their own.
The Chief Minister said that he don't know why former CM Chaudhry Pervez Elahi has termed "Aashiyana Housing Scheme" as a bogus project. He said it was clear that by opposing the said project the opponents were indulging in political blame game and criticism for the sake of criticism.
He said that not only people of Punjab but also masses across the country have lauded the Punjab government for laying foundation stone of a housing scheme that can could help labourers and other people with low income to get a house of their own.
Shahbaz Sharif was of the view that some people were fond of keeping them alive in politics through controversial statements and pointing out weaknesses of opponents but they don't admit the good work done for betterment of people and province which was a matter of grave concern.
He said that no project initiated by provincial government was aimed at gaining personal or political publicity and all projects including Sasti Roti Scheme, Danish Schools and Aashiyana Housing Scheme were meant for welfare of masses and these are being highly admired and supported by the needy in the society.
The Chief Minister expressed his satisfaction over the pace of development projects in Bhutta Chowk and congratulated the MNA of the area, MPAs, Commissioner Lahore and other administration officials for their commitment to accomplish the projects in stipulated time frame.
He urged them to keep watch on other projects also and ensure quality and their timely completion.
