LAHORE - Pakistan Workers Federation presenting the budget proposal has suggested the ministry of finance to adopt economic self-reliance policy by raising employment opportunities through improvement in industry and agriculture. Pakistan Workers Federation urged the government to overcome loadshedding by developing the hydel and foal fired power stations to provide sufficient and cheaper electricity to meet growing demand.
Taxes should be imposed on feudal lords and real estate, it said and recommended to bring owners of luxurious cars and residents of posh areas in order to raise revenue. The PWF asked the government to introduce agrarian reforms and distribute lands among the landless peasants and bonded labour.
It asked the government to control sky-rocketing price-hike of essential commodities by evolving affective system to control monopolies and hoarding of the traders. It called for evolving more transparent and efficient banking system in order to encourage Pakistan Migrant Workers to sent heir remittances through legal channels instead of Hundi System.
It demanded to develop “Productivity Culture” by establishing “National Productivity Council” like Germany, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
Government should raise minimum wages of the unskilled workers at Rs15,000 per month.
The Government should take special steps to promote Green Jobs and healthy environment at work and living places and counter the challenges of Climate Change.
