LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to further expedite campaign against Qabza Mafia and activate committees set up at district level, and the model adopted for the elimination of the Mafia and encroachments in Lahore and Faisalabad be implemented in all the districts and a special cell should also be set up for reviewing the action taken against the Mafia at district level.
He was presiding over a meeting to review campaign against Qabza Mafia on Thursday, which was also attended by Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Members Provincial Assembly, Secretaries of various departments, Commissioner Lahore, DCOs Faisalabad and Lahore and senior officers concerned. Senior Member Board of Revenue Akhlaq Ahmad Tarar informed about the details of the measures taken against the Mafia and the state land retrieved.
The CM said illegal occupation over properties and lands had assumed the form of industry and the Qabza Mafia menace speedily spread during the last ten years with the connivance of departments concerned. He said the present government had decided to strictly crush the Mafia, and added that the operation conducted for this purpose in Lahore and Faisalabad had yielded positive results and state land worth billions of rupees had been retrieved. He said dacoity over right of any body tantamount to murder of justice, and the government would never allow it.He also directed to constitute a special cell at provincial level, headed by MPA Tahir Ahmad Sindhu, which would review regularly measures taken in this regard. He said regular meetings of the committees should be held to review the measures taken against the Qabza Mafia in every district and police should extend cooperation to the administration during the campaign.
