LAHORE: The government should declare the next five years as “Education Reforms

and Implementation Years” and at least five percent of the total national earnings must be spent on the education sector, said a resolution presented and adopted unanimously at an educational convention and scholarship distribution ceremony held at the Dera Mian Saeed, Wahdat Road, on Sunday. The ceremony was organised by Anjuman Araian Pakistan.

Over 500 social activists, academicians, doctors and people form all sections of society attended the ceremony. Mian Muhammad Muneer, Mian Muhammad Saeed, Lt General Ghulam Mustufa, Mian Shafiq, Chaudhry Zulifqar and Arshad Gurki addressed the ceremony.

Anjuman Araian Pakistan’s newly elected president, Mian Muhammad Saeed, while presenting the academic resolution, said, “Pakistan has faced both internal and external threats, and one of the major reasons for emergence of these threats is a lack of uniform education system and inconsistent educational polices in addition to a very low investment in the education sector. Because of a lack of education and awareness, some external forces are using our people against us as suicide bombers. In order to regain respect of Pakistan and its citizens, the government as well as private sector should focus on academic reforms during the next five years.”

While talking to the scholarship winning students, Saeed said that India had left us far behind in the field of education, technology and good repute in the world, only because of its focus on the educational sector immediately after independence.

“On the other hand, Pakistan lacked uniform education system and consistent academic polices,” he said. He said our educational system had totally failed to forge unity amongst our ranks and that is why we are now facing external as well as internal enemies.

“We can fight external threats through force but the internal enemies can only be fought through tools of education and awareness”, he said.
