US Ambassador to Pakistan Ms Anne W Patterson called on Punjab Governor Salman Taseer at Governor’s House on Tuesday. Principal Officer to US Consulate in Lahore Bryan D Hunt was also present. The Governor told Anne Patterson that the PPP had always discouraged narrow mindedness in the society. He said the open policies of the present government had set new precedents of civil liberties and everyone was free to express his/her point of view. The Governor said the government had kept in mind the concept of free economy while introducing reforms in the economic sector. He said the people of Pakistan supported the government in the promotion of this development process because it was the government’s main objective to improve the condition of the poor. US Ambassador thanked the Governor and praised the initiatives taken by the elected government for stability in the country. She said Pakistan and USA were important allies in the war against terror and highlighted the efforts of both the countries to make the world safe and free from terrorists.
