LAHORE - The Punjab Education Foundation would employ the IT graduates as subject specialists for partner schools and 25 graduates will be hired in the first phase, PEF Managing Director Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani revealed here on Tuesday.
During his briefing to Salma Abbasi, Worldwide Group Chairperson and CEO, at PEF Boardroom, the MD said the PEF provided professional training to 115,196 teachers of different private schools during the past few years and 25,270 sessions were held in this regard.
Mr Wani said: “The training was especially beneficial to the schools in backward areas where teachers lack access to latest concepts of teaching and classroom management.”
Explaining the rationale behind it, he hoped it would help broaden understanding of information and communication technology in the poor students. Teaching in clusters by the subject specialists programme would also be extended from 24 districts to 36 districts of the province, he disclosed.
Ms Abbasi said the ICT could be of great help to a developing country like Pakistan to improve its literacy rate. The ICT had made the distant learning easier, said she, adding the students should be taught about the best use of technology even in the remote areas.
Different programme heads also briefed her about the working of their programmes and its impact on students.
