LAHORE – Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday presided over a meeting to review the pace of construction of model villages initiated in the flood affected areas. Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, MPAs Hafiz Mian Nauman and Khawaja Salman Rafique, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Local Government, Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Chief Executive Officer Punjab Rural Support Programme were present.
The CM said the Punjab government had decided to set up model villages for affectees in the flood-hit areas and the construction work of these villages was being carried out expeditiously. “Model villages are being constructed from this money and transparent utilization of every penny is being ensured,” he added.
DG Provincial Disaster Management Authority Khalid Sherdil briefed the meeting, and donors were constructing seven thousand houses in 64 model villages whereas Punjab government was constructing 3860 houses in 36 villages. SMBR Akhlaq Ahmad Tarrar gave details of construction of model villages in the province.
