KARACHI - Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ebad, provincial ministers and political leaders have condemned the assassination of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer in federal capital, Islamabad.
In separate messages, the government and political leaders also praised the role of Salman Taseer as Governor of Punjab.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah condemning the tragic assassination of Salman Taseer said that PPP-led government was fighting with an extremist thought.
Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ebad also condemned the assassination of Governor Taseer. He prayed for his soul.
Meanwhile, former law minister and former secretary of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Iqbal Hyder talking to The Nation said that dictator Gen Zial ul Haq was the creator of religious extremism in Pakistan, while Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf nourished these elements.
He emphasised on the government to start efforts to root out every kind of extremism including religious and ethnic in the country, which is dangerous for the integrity of Pakistan.
He opined that government is lacking will to eradicate extremism from the country. He demanded that government should start action to eliminate religious extremism and cut the supply line of them to let these extremists to starve.
Former federal law minster said that if a representative of federation was not safe then what the government will do for the security of common men.
