LAHORE: Four people, including two fire fighters, were injured when a fire broke out in a shop at Hafeez Centre, Gulberg on Thursday afternoon.

Panic gripped the shopkeepers, buyers and visitors as the fire that erupted due to short-circuiting in Net Pack shop at the first floor of the city’s busiest mall engulfed three floors of the building within no time. Fire brigade and rescue ambulances rushed to the spot and managed to put out the fire after a hectic struggle of two hours.

The shop owners appreciated the swiftness of the fire fighters whose timely assistance saved precious lives and the whole building from burning.

It may be mentioned here that inadequate electricity wiring often causes short-circuiting at different plazas that leads to fire eruption. The incident should be an eye-opener for the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) because faulty wiring has been a constant threat at every place in the city.
