A 5.0-magnitude earthquake hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab provinces at 2:27pm local time Thursday, but no casualties or property damage were reported so far, local media said.
The earthquake that last 10-12 seconds triggered panic among locals people and its epicenter was somewhere in the Hindu Kush mountains, according to Muhammad Hanif, an official from Pakistan' s seismic department.
The tremor was felt in the cities of Peshawar, Gilgit, Chitral, Skardu, Abbottabad, Swat, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Mansehra, Peshawar, Kohat, Nowshera and Islamabad.
