The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) would start development work on a housing scheme at Chakra for low-paid employees of Ministry of Defence on 25th of this month.
Well informed sources told ‘The News’ here on Monday that the main objective of the scheme is to provide shelter to the low-paid employees from scale 1 to 7. The sources said 392 plots, measured 5 to 7 marlas, have already been allotted to the employees.
The development work on this scheme including construction of roads, streets, provision of electricity, Sui gas, street lights, sewerage system would commence on November 25. The work would be inaugurated by the Director General Military Lands and Cantonments.
The official spokesman confirmed the report saying that the development work would be done on fast note and would be completed within scheduled time.
The RCB has always worked for resolving the basic issues of the citizens living in Cantonment areas and the housing scheme is one fine example to quote in this regard, the spokesman said.
Water connections for provision of this facility would also be initiated during construction work on the scheme, the spokesman added. Chaakra is near to Rawalpindi and the employees would not face any conveyance problem as transport run throughout the day from there, he said.After carrying out development work, the area would be beautified with greenery at different points, he said.
