MIRPUR (AJK): The Mirpur Development Authority has launched a campaign against land grabbers.

On the special directives of Mirpur Development Authority’s Chairman Dr Muhammad Amin Chaudhry and Director Estate Management, MDA Chaudhry Muhammad Tayyab, the anti-encroachment wing of the Authority conducted a surprise crackdown against ‘Qabza’ mafia in local residential sectors and nabbed a person for trying to occupy the MDA-owned land, it was officially declared.

The crackdown came in the wake of the ongoing extensive drive against illegal occupants of the MDA-owned state land in its various housing sector including swiftly populated Sector F-3 Part-5, MDA sources told newsmen here today.

The sources said that on a tip off, a special anti-encroachment team of Mirpur Development Authority led by Enforcement Officer Raja Muhammad Rasheed and Senior Encroachment Inspector Chan Pervez - along with Thothal Police station’s in-charge officer Raja Azher Iqbal, got vacated the illegally occupied residential plots in Dheiri Rustam in Sector F-3 Part-5 from the unlawful possession of the Qabza-mafia.

Police arrested an accused identified as Dr. Muhammad Hanif from the scene after Mirpur Development Authority received reports that the accused had started illegal construction to occupy various plots located on state-owned land in the aforesaid housing sector.

Social and political quarters including genuine allottees have welcomed the anti-encroachment drive launched by MDA against the illegal occupants of the MDA-owned land in its residential sector in the city and adjoining hamlets.

These quarters particularly appreciated the quick action by Mirpur Development Authority against the illegal occupants in Housing Sector F-3 Part-5 including the drive of demolishing of the unlawful encroachments in the area.
