KARACHI: The Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) plans to install six new water filtration plants to provide potable water to Clifton residents and the slums in the vicinity of CBC.
In this regard, CBC Saddar Chief Executive Officer Taimur Khan Durrani gave a detailed briefing to Sindh Environment Minister Askari Taqvi whose electoral constituency in the cantonment area. The minister visited CBC, along with M.Q.M. Delhi Colony Sector In-charge Muhammad Ali and Babar Jamal on Friday.
Durrani raised an 11-point agenda before the minister for due consideration so that the problems of the masses can be addressed and resolved in time. CBC Chief Engineer Niaz Sheikh, Assistant Engineer Arshad Jamil, CBC Coordination Officer Col. Shamim Qureshi, Superintendent Javed Mehmood assisted Durrani during his briefing.
It was further stated that CBC will construct two pedestrian overhead bridges at Khayaban-e Jami and the pavement on the adjoining roads has already been sanctioned.
Three new water filtration plants will be for the slums including Delhi Colony and Punjab Colony. The CBC will also put grass in the Punjab Colony Stadium soon.
CBC Engineer requested the minister to arrange for necessary funds for the projects in the pipeline.
The minister assured CBC of his full support and said that he will play his role in addressing the masses’ problems especially for the provision of pure drinking water, streetlights and lease to the residents of slums in the CBC.
