Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) is causing bad name for the PPP-led government as it is fulfilling the industry requirements ignoring the needs of domestic consumers. According to the sources despite all the claims of SNGPL management, domestic users are not getting gas with proper pressure.

While the spokesman of the SNGPL company had taken the shutdown for the maintenance of the gas pipelines in some areas. He said that they had given the advertisement of this shutdown in the widely circulated Urdu newspapers of the country. He said that they had informed the users at least 36 to 48 hours before the shutdown. He dispelled this impression that there was a gas load shedding for the domestic consumers adding that domestic consumers were their top priority.

The officials of the company seeking anonymity admitted that SNGPL has ignored domestic user for the last many days. Sources said that despite the recent claims of Petroleum Minister Syed Naveed Qamar that gas supply to domestic users would be the priority of the government. 'We are being ignored and nobody listen to our complaints,' a resident of Mozang said.

Though nobody has yet started using gas heaters and geysers but the low supply has been started. The residents of Thokker Niaz Baig, Icchra, Canal View, Johar Town, Township, Green Town, Faisal Town, Wapda Town, Garden Town and Gulshan-e-Ravi complained about the low pressure saying that they cannot even cook food due to low pressure of gas.

Sources said that Sui Northern Gas is getting 160mmcfd from Zamzma Gas field in addition to this abundant quantity of gas is available in the country but this year for the first time in the country's history, the problems of low pressure has been started even before the advent of the winter season. Industry sector is already protesting against the load management announced by SNGPL while CNG pumps were also observing one-day gas load shedding as a part of the load management plan announced by SNGPL.
