ISLAMABAD – The Law Ministry on Monday terminated the services of its two senior cadre officers. Ghulam Rasool, senior consultant and expert on International Law and Raja Abdullah, Joint Secretary came to office as per routine but they were informed that their services were no more required at the ministry.
Both Rasool and Abdullah were employed on two years contract and their contracts had to expire in July next year. Their services terminated with immediate effect.
The officers were informed about their termination when they come to office as routine. They were told that their services were no more required by the ministry.
Since Babar Awan has assumed the charge of Ministry of Law and Justice seven senior officers Aqil Mirza, Secretary, Mansoor Ali Khan, Senior Joint Secretary, Akbar Achakzai, Senior Joint Secretary, Shamaila Mehmood, Consultant Research, and Azam Warriach were either forced to resigned or their service were terminated without assigning any reasons.
Babar Awan took the charge of Law and Justice Ministry in December 2009 after Afzal Shindhu was transferred to Railways Ministry. Sindhu was transferred when he in a press conference disclosed the list of NRO beneficiaries.
Justice (Retd) Aqil Mirza, Secretary had resigned as there was pressure on him not to write letter to Swiss Authority for reopening cases against the NRO beneficiaries including President Asif Ali Zardari.
