KARACHI - The city returned to normalcy on Sunday after observing the mourning announced by Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) during the burial rituals of its mainstream leader Dr Imran Farooq.
However, some parts of the metropolis including Ghulshan Iqbal Town, some parts of SITE Town and other parts of the city remained closed.
The security personnel opened all the roads around the MQM central head office Nine-Zero which earlier had been blocked for security reason, markets, shops and tuck shops in different localities were also opened and Karachities resumed their routine life, people thronged to different markets while the normal traffic also seen the road however the public transport, including minibuses, Rikshaws and Taxi were thin as compare to normal days.
Shops in Saddar and adjoining bazaars, which were closed due to mourning day, resumed their normal business instead of weekly holiday of the business community, the weekly bazaars and Sunday Book Bazaar on Regal Chowk, however, could not be opened due to uncertain situation.
