KARACHI: The doubly-compounded sugar crisis further intensified in the country including Karachi, as the commodity surged to Rs125 per kilogram in villages and Rs110 in cities, Geo News reported Monday.

According to the market sources, the sugar prices went further up Rs6/kg, pushing it Rs104/kg in wholesale market and its retail price jumped to Rs110/kg.

In Quetta and Peshawar, the price surge in the wholesale market pushed it up in the open market, where sugar is being sold at Rs105 to 110 per kilo.

Lahore also witnessed hike in price of the commodity in the retail market to Rs110; while, sugar is being sold in Karachi at Rs100/kg.
