PUNJAB Parliamentary Secretary of Health Dr Saeed Elahi has directed the Services Hospital administration to immediately start token system at the counter set up for dengue patients in the emergency ward and arrange more benches for the patients and their attendants.
He issued these instructions during a visit to the Services Hospital on Monday on the instruction of the chief minister to review the arrangements made at the hospital for the free treatment of dengue patients, according to a handout here.
MPA Mian Mohsin Latif also accompanied him. Dr Saeed Elahi went to each patient and inquired after them.
The hospital medical superintendent, Dr Javed, briefed Dr Saee Elahi and Mohsin Latif that there were 25 dengue patients in the hospital while 59 patients had left the hospital after recovery.
Dr Saeed Elahi, seeing the rush of patients in emergency ward, directed the administration to improve discipline and depute more doctors and paramedical staff in the ward.
The MS said that patients of common fever were also visiting emergency ward in large numbers and it took quite some time to separate dengue patients from the others.
Talking to media persons on this occasion, Dr Saeed Elahi said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a monitoring committee comprising assembly members was visiting different government hospitals to review the arrangements for the treatment of dengue patients and submitting its report on regular basis so that better facilities could be provided to the patients. He said platelet kits were also being provided to the patients and the government had made arrangements for the smooth supply of the kits to the dengue patients.
