‘Pakistan, New Zealand can co-operate in education’

ISLAMABAD: There is significant potential for co-operation with New Zealand in the fields of education and dairy farming, Foreign Minster Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Thursday.

“Pakistan has adopted a comprehensive approach to deal with terrorism and extremism, which includes political engagement in addition to the use of force,” Qureshi told New Zealand Foreign Minister Phil Goff on the sidelines of the 63rd UN General Assembly session in New York.

Goff said New Zealand was willing to work with Pakistan on education, adding that this was a good way of promoting people-to-people contact. He said his country was playing its role to bring peace in Afghanistan. New Zealand, he added, highlighted the current situation in Afghanistan did not simply require a military solution, but development and economic strategy too.

Qureshi told Goff Pakistan was positively engaged with Afghanistan and the two countries were thinking of forming a joint counterterrorism strategy. app
