3-day meeting to discuss Thar Coal Project starts in Dubai

KARACHI: A three-day meeting between the World Bank and six multi-national companies to discuss the Thar Coal Project began in Dubai on Thursday. Mines and Minerals Secretary Younus Dhaga and Thar Coal Energy Board Member Asad Ali Shah are representing the Sindh Government.
Talking to the media on Thursday, the Advisor to the Chief Minister Dr Khatoomal Jeewan said that the meeting was to be held in Karachi but was rescheduled to Dubai after the bomb blasts at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. Jeewan said that the meeting will be attended by representatives of various countries, including the United States and India. “Work on the coal-based power project will be started within the next two months,” he said.
He said that the government does not plan to inquire into the corruption of the previous government, as it is more concerned about the future than the past.
