ISLAMABAD: The British High Commission (BHC) on Wednesday submitted the details of containers imported through Pakistan for transport of supplies to NATO and the ISAF forces in Afghanistan to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), reliable sources informed Daily Times.

In a letter written to the Federal Board of Revenue Member Customs Munir Qureshi, BHC revealed that around 24,215 containers were sent to Afghanistan for delivery of supplies to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and British forces during the period of January 1, 2008 to June 30, 2010, while only two containers were mentioned as ‘went missing’ in the letter.

The report finalised by the high-level investigation committee of FBR on the issue, claimed that during the above mentioned period, 26,490 containers were sent to Afghanistan for ISAF, NATO and other forces out of which FBR had received the cross-border certificates of 26,326 containers, however, the certificates of 164 containers were yet to be acknowledged.
