KARACHI: The police on Sunday claimed arresting a notorious criminal involved in land encroachment from Sector L-1, Surjani Town.
Surjani SHO Yar Muhammad Rind said land grabber Zafar Fareedi was arrested along with his two guards named Riaz Hussain and Ameer Ali and three friends namely Iftikhar, Muhammad Ali and Zeeshan, while two 7mm pistols were recovered from their possession.
Police has registered FIR No 706/10 and 707/10 under Section 324, 440 and 506-B against the culprits. Police officials said the alleged accused were arrested after Muhammad Asif Lakhani and Kashif Ahmad complained on Police Help Line 15 that they were being threatened to stop construction work at a site in Sector L-1.
The accused accompanied by an unregistered police mobile were damaging the constructed walls and giving threats of dire consequences to the complainants, they said. This is the second significant arrest by the city police in the case of land grabbing. Earlier, police had arrested Ali Hassan Barohi from Gulshan-e-Maymar.
