ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said time given by Supreme Court for implementation on NRO verdict was not a result of a deal, dismissing impression that incumbent army chief would be appointed as Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Geo News reported.

In a televised interview with a local television channel, the Premier said army and ISI want supremacy of democracy in country, dispelling the impression that judiciary and government were on course of collision.

Government enjoys good relations with army and establishment, he said adding that General Kayani’s name was not under consideration to be appointed as CJCSC.

“27 out of 32 clauses of Charter of Democracy (CoD) have been implemented upon as government believes in hegemony of democracy at all cost”, he observed.

Had CJ Chaudhry been released in presence of the then president Gen. Musharraf, it would mean to send his life in danger.
