KARACHI - Public colleges in Orangi Town and Qasba Colony have become troublesome for the Directorate of Colleges, Sindh, as teachers are not willing to perform their duties in the government colleges situated in these areas due to the law and order situation.
The Government Girls College Orangi Town, Sector 111/2 has nearly been closed due to the poor performance of Directorate of Colleges under the administration of former Director-General Colleges, Sindh, Dr Rafique Siddiqui.
The college is on verge of collapse as it is running without any permanent principal and teachers during the last three years. A clerk looks after the administrative issues of the college while Principal of Government Girls College Orangi Town, Sector 7/C, Prof Khalida Parveen also looks after the closed college. Nearly 80 to 90 students of the Government Girls College Orangi Town, Sector 111/2 are taking their classes in Government Girls College Orangi Town, Sector 7/C under the supervision of Prof Khalida Parveen.
It is worth mentioning here that the academic session is going to be started after the completion of Admission to Class XI under the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) Committee.
Conversely, Principal of Government Girls College Qasba Colony, Prof Rukhsana, has left the college after receiving life threat from political criminals working in the area. However, the college administration is badly affected by the absence of the college principal. These colleges are largely affected by ethnic violence, which is a regular feature of these areas.
