ISLAMABAD: Daily Times has found that according to CDA bylaws, allotment of commercial plots in parks is prohibited but CDA violated its own law and allotted over 500 plots for fast foods, dhabas and kiosks in the parks and on green belts in different areas of the city. In 2006 CDA allotted a plot for “Mini Golf Club” in Fatima Jinnah (F-9) Park besides, a club Hot Shot was also set up there in early 90s. After that CDA gave permission to McDonald to build a branch in the park and allotted a plot on license. F-9 park, which is spread over 3.6 million square yards was built for the purpose of exercise and walk. Besides, for the people coming for the picnic, a variety of playground equipped with swings, slides, climbers had to be fixed there for the children but CDA administration focused there attention to commercial use of the park’s land. As a result western area of the park, which is facing sector F-10, was totally converted into commercial area.
