LAHORE - A representative of Microsoft Mr Jeffery called on Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, here on Saturday and gave him a briefing about Disaster Management and advantages of modern technology of monitoring, besides ensuring transparent utilisation of aid for flood affectees, says a hand out.
The Chief Minister praised the system of transparency and monitoring of relief activities by Microsoft representative and said that Pakistan is facing worst flood of its history which has caused large-scale devastation.
He said that after the first phase of relief and rescue of flood affectees, the next phase of the rehabilitation and return to their homes will begin as water recedes. He said that rehabilitation of flood affected and enabling them to resume normal life is also an important task. He said that survey has been started in the affected areas. He said that Punjab government has paid special attention to the transparent use of aid so that every penny could be spent only on the relief and rehabilitation of flood affectees.
The Chief Minister said that the briefing given by Microsoft representative with regard to monitoring of aid and its transparent use is comprehensive and added that the Punjab government will collaborate with Microsoft in this regard.
Microsoft representative Jaffery highlighted the important aspects of the monitoring system and informed that he will also impart IT training to members of Punjab Youth Council about this programme. Hamza Shahbaz, Chairman Planning & Development, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board. DG Punjab Disaster Management Authority and Microsoft representative in Pakistan Ahmed Kamal also attended the briefing.
