‘One window operation’ has been launched at registry offices of Rawalpindi ‘kutchery’ and ‘tehsil’ to root out corruption in all revenue-related matters.
The computerised ‘one window operation’ would discourage ‘tout mafia’ in Rawalpindi ‘kutchery’ and ‘tehsil’. The initiative started on the directions of District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imdadullah Bosal.
Sub-Registrar Syed Shafqat Raza told ‘The News’ that there is no chance of corruption in registry matters with the introduction of computerised system. Sellers, buyers and witnesses along with necessary documents would appear in front of the computer for photographs and statements. All pictures and statements would be saved in the computer to avoid any change for doing corruption in registry matters, he said.
He said that they check the Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) of the seller, buyer and witnesses through computers. “We had confronted several men who tried to get registries through fake documents and fake witnesses and I had registered cases under Section 420 against them,” he said. He added that clients should contact the concerned ‘registry moharrir’ to avoid ‘tout mafia’ in this regard.
Rawalpindi Kutchery Registry ‘Moharrir’ Muhammad Ibrar Shah said that clients would pay 1% government fee, 2 per cent stamp duty and Rs500 ‘Intikaal’ fee for getting registry. Clients could easily get registry of cantonment and city areas in three to four days, he said. Clients should directly come to the registry branch to get the facility of one window operation, he suggested.
Talking to ‘The News’, a large number of clients appreciated ‘one window operation’ in the registry branch. They said that getting registry was a lengthy process. Tout mafia was very active in trapping clients in registry matters in Rawalpindi ‘kutchery’ and tehsil registry offices. Tout mafia took thousands of rupees from innocent clients on surety of registry. After getting money touts continuously avoid clients for trapping another person, clients said.
Bushra Rehman, a client, said that she went to computer section in registry branch after paying government fees. Concerned revenue staff in the registry branch got the picture, signature and thumb sign and checked her NIC number to record her statement before revenue officer. “One window operation in the registry branch should remain continue in future to avoid corruption in the best interest of public,” she said.
