LAHORE - In a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Chief of the Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, views were exchanged regarding the flood situation, affectees, reconstruction of the destroyed infrastructure and other matters, and it was stated that while considering the flood devastation as a challenge, the govt and its organisations would complete the restoration work by utilising all resources.
Shahbaz appreciated the role of the Army in bringing the affectees to safer places and stability in their lives, and said the Army had done this work along with other government organs in the national spirit.
He also mentioned that he and his senior govt functionaries were themselves supervising the relief tasks in the flood-affected areas. “We will not rest till complete rehabilitation of the affectees, and will come up to the expectations of the masses,” he vowed. General Kayani, while talking about his visit to the affected areas, said the devastation and destruction could be only thwarted through a united effort.
