LAHORE-Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry of Lahore High Court on Wednesday directed deputy attorney general Naveed Inayat Malik get in seven days whatever evidence/ documents were available Ministry of Interior and hand over to Baristter Iqbal Jafree who will send the same to America to establish Dr Aafia’s innocence in the US trial court.
The judge passed the order on letter written by Baristter Jafree in which he requested the judge to pass direction to government/interior ministry to provide him whatsoever documents were available in support of Dr Aafia. The proceedings on the letter were held in camera in the camber of justice Ijaz Chaudhry and later the judge passed directions to the attorney.
A few days ago, the court of Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry was informed by secretary interior ministry that no substantial evidence was available with police or agencies for establishing innocence of Dr Aafia in US court. The judge then had disposed of the petition of Baristter Jafree allowing him to write a letter to the US court in his personal capacity. Later, he wrote a letter to the judge requesting his court that whatever material was available may be given him so that he may send the same to judge of American court. Jafree said the material available may not be substantial or workable in the eyes of ministry of interior but the same could save life of Dr Aafia on whose head life imprisonment is handing.
