Light rain hit the provincial metropolis here on Friday, with the MET office predicting partly cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorm and rain across the province, including the City, during the next 24 hours.

The rain started before noon and continued till evening. According to MET office, only 2 mm rain was recorded in the city, bringing down maximum temperature to 29 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded as 27.3 degree Celsius. Humidity level which was 88 per cent in the morning went up to 92 per cent after rain.

The MET officials have predicted more rains in the city in the coming days, saying weak low pressure over west Rajistan (India) and adjoining areas had merged into seasonal low. Southeast monsoon current is penetrating into sub-mountainous areas of Punjab and Kashmir upto 5,000 feet. Thursday’s well-marked monsoon low over the northwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and now it lies over west Orissa (India).

On the other hand, majority of the city localities and roads were giving looks of mini ponds, thanks to the indifference of the civic departments who failed to end miseries and troubles of the people resulting out of the monsoon rains.
