LAHORE-For the first time since formation of coalition government in Punjab, PPP’s parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly and Senior Punjab Minister Raja Riaz on Monday asked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to fulfil the promise of giving more cabinet slots to the PPP as agreed between the two parties under 60-40 power-sharing formula.
While replying to a question at a news conference at Lahore Press Club, the senior minister said that his party was of the considered opinion that extension in Punjab cabinet was a must, as many slots including those of health and education were still lying vacant.
Accompanied by PPP’s acting Punjab President, Sami-ullah Khan and Deputy Secretary Usman Saleem Malik, the Senior minister said that PPP was being denied its due share of power in Punjab because of PML-N’s decision to quit federal cabinet in the beginning.
Coming down hard on PML-N leader Siddiqul Farooq for his statement against President Asif Ali Zardari, he said that he had serious doubts about the mental health of those levelling allegation of Punjab’s division against the President.
