RAWALPINDI: British Conservative Party Chairperson Baroness Sayeeda Warsi on Sunday urged the leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the PML-Quaid to forge unity among their ranks to ensure a prosperous Pakistan.

Addressing the people, she asked them to promote and adopt the teachings and message of Islam as non-Muslims had achieved new heights of prosperity by following the principles of Islam.

She paid rich tributes to Great Britain, saying anyone could prosper in the UK due to their just system. Vowing to strengthen Pak-Britain friendship, she said the success of Britain was the success of Pakistan.

Earlier on her arrival at Beol, her hometown, the people accorded her an enthusiastic welcome. The entire area wore a festive look as if there was some special occasion to celebrate in the suburban areas of Rawat. There was no political party there as everyone joined hands to welcome the first Muslim British minister.

British High Commissioner Adam Thomson, the mother and father of Warsi, Safdar Hussain Butt and Hafiza Begum, Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, MPAs Raja Shaukat Aziz Bhatti, Tariq Kayani, former district nazim Raja Javed Ikhlas and other local leaders were present on the occasion.

The organiser of the function, Iftikhar Warsi, while addressing the gathering, demanded the establishment of Potohar University.

He also highlighted the social work of Sayeeda Warsi, saying that Rs 40 million had already been spent for materialising various projects in Beol.
