ISLAMABAD: Prevailing differences between Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) over the construction of Chirah Dam will be settled after the return of CDA Chairman Kamran Lashari from the USA, sources said.

They said the RDA had finalised a project to construct Chirah Dam. They said the CDA wanted ownership rights of the dam that would be constructed in territorial limits of the federal capital. Quoting the CDA version, the sources said 50 percent of the dam’s water would be supplied to Zone-IV residents of Islamabad.

They said organisations, favouring construction of small dams, and the RDA had refused to give ownership rights of the proposed dam to the CDA. On the other hand, they said, the CDA Planning Wing had vowed to construct Chirah Dam by using its own resources to meet water needs in Zone-IV.

They said the dam would be constructed beneath Simli Dam. Referring to a study conducted by the RDA, they said 18 million gallons of water would be obtained from the dam everyday. They said the JICA had estimated supply of 30 million gallons of water daily from the dam.

Eid bonus: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Makeen Shahbaz has approved Eidul Fitr package for the authority’s employees on the demand of Staff Union President Khawaja Arshad.

Under the package, each RDA employee of Grade 1-16 will get Rs 2,500 in addition to monthly salary. On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also approved payment of Rs 1,000 to each RDA employee of Grade 1-9 as Ramazan bonus. online
