The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) Special Planning Cell Saturday started registration of FIRs against owners of buildings constructed illegally on various roads and commercial areas of the Walled City.

The building department of LDA also issued warning notices to violators of building by-laws.

CDGL, District Officer Special Planning and in charge of the operation, Qamarul Islam, told APP that in the first phase of a cleanup operation, the CDGL adopted a strategy of FIRs and notices while demolition would start in the next phase.

Squads comprising officials from Solid Waste Management, Building Department, Revenue, Special Planning Cell (SPC) and town administration will take part in the operation.This operation is being initiated on complaints of massive illegal construction across the city.

The CDGL launched the operation on May 29 on Ring Road and Canal Road and extended it to Walled City.

Meanwhile, survey teams of the building department headed by in charge inspectors of the area concerned have started checking buildings constructed illegally.
