LAHORE - Chairperson Dreams Welfare Society (DWS) actress Kanwal has demanded of the government to build housing colony for the artists and provide free education to their children.
Addressing a press conference here at Lahore Press Club on Thursday along with actor Jamil Fakhri and others, she welcomed the Prime Minister’s decision of providing free medical treatment to the artists.
Kanwal said DWS would assist the govt in this regard so that the deserving artists could get benefits from the scheme. Stressing upon the government to restore royalty of plays and increase wages of artists working with state run television, she said it was impossible for the artists to make both ends meets in the wake of growing inflation. She said that the remuneration of Rs3000 for the artists by Pakistan Arts Council was a joke. She demanded increase in remuneration to minimum wages (Rs7000).
