LAHORE - The country is being run in accordance with the Constitution and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will play his role to avoid any confrontation between the judiciary and the institutions.
These views were expressed by Senior Federal Minister Makhdom Amin Fahim while talking to the mediamen at Lahore Airport on Sunday. He said Constitution provided immunity to the President Zardari and hoped that the judiciary would do justice. Amin Fahim said that party had decided that some ministers would also appear before the court and keeping in view the stated party decision, he cancelled his tour of Britain.
To a question regarding target killing in Karachi, he said it was a provincial issue, however, the law enforcing agencies and government should become vigilant. To another query about party leaders Naheed Khan and Safdar Abbasi’s sharp statements, he said that PPP was a democratic party and everybody had the right to utter his opinion.
Traders flay VAT
All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT) disapproved Value Added Tax (VAT) and the decision of the govt to shut down markets by 8pm. Addressing a press conference at Press Club on Sunday, President APAT Haji Maqsood Butt said their business had collapsed due to early shutdown of the shops. He demanded of the govt to let them open markets till 9pm. He said govt should hold talks with them. Butt criticised the VAT and expressed his reservation on its implementation.
